An old house made for groups
It is an old house with 60 cm walls that keep out both heat and cold. It was bought in 1995 and fully renovated. You rent the whole house, never shared with other guests: families, groups of friends, couples with children.
It is called Casa Teatro because it began as an artists’ residence, for theatre, dance, music or yoga retreats. Raíces means “roots”: the idea is that what you live here stays with you and makes you want to come back.
Activities
Workshops, olive trees and lunch in the orchard
Any stay can include activities. With La Libre, the bookshop in Taberno, there are workshops in short-form theatre, acting, set design, improvisation, creative writing, clowning and puppetry. There are also active meditation sessions, with or without accommodation, for 3 people or more.
From November to January you can join the olive harvest on an organic farm, any day of the week, with Moorish tea and toast with olive oil at mid-morning. At other times of year, almonds, grafting and the vegetable garden. And if you want to spend the day in the countryside, lunch is cooked right there: paella, migas, barbecue, Moorish tea and Arab pastries.
We are preparing a 75 m² hall for theatre, dance, music, crafts, yoga, sport or cooking retreats, for groups who want to work and stay in the same place. It is not available yet.

Six bedrooms and a cave room
There are five double beds (two 150 cm and three 135 cm) and two 105 cm beds, two full bathrooms and a kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave and washing machine. Bed linen and towels are included, and there is a cot and a high chair. Air conditioning and fans in summer; central heating with radiators in winter. The house is adapted for guests with reduced mobility.
Pool, orchard and 8.5 hectares of countryside
Inside the fenced area of about 2,000 m² are the pool, the covered porch with the barbecue, the vegetable garden and a large outdoor table by the water. The pool is open all year, has its own fence and built-in steps.
Beyond the fence the estate carries on, with fig, citrus, pomegranate, prickly pear and olive trees, a tool barn with a garage and a chicken coop. Pets have all the room they need to run.

Taberno and around
Taberno is a small inland village in Almería, in the Almanzora valley, and the house looks out over all of it. The last stretch is an easy 200 m along a dry riverbed, and you park in the wide spots beside it. Shops, bars and restaurants are in Taberno, 3 minutes by car; everything else is in Albox, 10 minutes away.
Hiking, trail running, mountain bike and gravel routes start right at the door, through riverbeds and olive groves. By car you are less than an hour from Vélez-Blanco, Lorca and the beaches of Vera and Mojácar.

How many people can stay?
Up to 12. There are six bedrooms with five double beds (two 150 cm and three 135 cm) and two 105 cm beds, a small cave room and two full bathrooms. You rent the whole house and never share it with other guests.
How much does it cost?
The whole house costs €370 a night in high season (Christmas, Easter week, the longer bank holiday weekends, July and August) and €290 the rest of the year. Groups of fewer than 8 get 30% off. You book direct, with no portals or commission.
What is the minimum stay?
Two nights in low season, three at Christmas and on bank holiday weekends, and four in summer. If your case is special, ask: there is some flexibility.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 1 pm. Check-out time is flexible.
How do I pay, and what if I cancel?
You book with a €100 deposit by Bizum or bank transfer. If you cancel in the last 7 days before arrival, the deposit is not refunded. There is also a €250 security deposit.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, up to 3. The pet supplement is included in the security deposit. The estate has plenty of outdoor space and the pool area is fenced.

Yes. The walls are 60 cm thick, there is central heating with radiators in every room and two fireplaces, plus air conditioning and fans for the summer.
